Auditor General of the Cayman Islands Mr. Alastair Swarbick announced his resignation to the Governor General on August 11, 2015 effective October 02, 2015. Alastair served as Auditor General since July 2010. He is leaving the Cayman Islands to take up a position as a Senior Policy Adviser at the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) based in Paris. Her Excellency the Governor General said:
“I have reluctantly accepted the resignation of the Auditor General. Alistair Swarbrick has served the Cayman Islands with professionalism and integrity since his appointment in 2010. During this period, the work of the Auditor General and his office has helped the civil service and other government entities to deliver major improvements in financial reporting. I would like to thank the Auditor for his significant contribution to our corporate governance and I wish him and his family well in Paris.”
As Auditor General of the Cayman Islands, Alastair was an integral part of the Caribbean Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (CAROSAI) for the past five years. He served on the Executive Council and as Chairman of the Institutional Strengthening Committee, Alastair was instrumental in the Implementation of the International Standards for Supreme Audit Institutions (ISSAI) Implementation Initiative (3i Programme) and several other important capacity development initiatives throughout the Caribbean region. Alastair willingly and generously gave of his time and expertise in the implementation of CAROSAI’s Capacity Development Initiatives. In this regard, he served as a Subject Matter Expert for the implementation of the Risk Based Approach to Financial Audits programme across the region.
The CAROSAI Secretariat and all the members of CAROSAI would like to thank Alastair for his time, valuable contributions and unconditional dedication to CAROSAI and wish him well in his future endeavors.
